Definitely an odessey of tool-making. Great article with lots of specific details. One thing I did not read is how the long inlay-grooves were cut in the legs, but I assume it was probably with the commercial Lie-Nielsen inlay tool?

Thanks for the feedback. Those were cut using a scratch stock. Pictures are on page five in the article. That said, the Lie-Nielsen straight line cutter is a better choice. I've since made one of these that was used on a later project. The advantage is the Lie-Nielsen type blade saws rather than scrapes the channel. It's less work and leaves a cleaner channel.
