Cherry Mantel

Cherry Mantel

A mantle made from a solid piece of cherry that was removed from a reclaimed barn that had stood for about 100 years. It measured 16 inches act it's widest, and close to 5 inches thick and was shaped using mostly hand tools. A draw knife removed much of the spongy sapwood, yet maintained the outer curve of the log.
